Fort Foot

Fort Foot was situated inside the military base area at the town of Rundu, located on the border of the former  South West Africa, (now Namibia), and Angola.

It was named Fort Foot because during its construction, the Operators deployed on an operation during which they had to walk for a very long distance - this long-distance walking being referred to as "Footing it".

Fort Foot was used as a forward operational base where Operators from any of the Regiments would gather prior to launching operations into Angola, and where they would regroup after the conclusion of operations.

Fort Foot was fairly small in size, was enclosed by high walls, and was surrounded on all sides by the bases of other military units.

Fort Foot was closed down when South African Forces withdrew from the former South West Africa in 1990.
